Edison plans automatic switch to curb Huntley outages
Commonwealth Edison will install automatic switching gear at the Huntley transformer station to reduce service interruptions. The 34 000 volt transmission line outages cause outages caused by lightning winds sleet and accidents. Design and manufacture will take about six months with construction expected to finish later this year.

Summer Reading Course Planned at Huntley District
Principal G L Delaney announced a summer remedial reading program for 15 kindergarten, 35 grades1-3, 35 grades4-6 and 15 grades7-8 students running June 19 to July 28 from 9 to 12. Federal funds of 9352.29 will cover admin 1200 instruction 3600 transport 560 equipment 3393.10 with staff led by Mrs Schachtner and others.

Huntley Volunteers Aid Belvidere Disaster Cleanup
A group of Huntley men mainly farmers joined Belvidere cleanup efforts last Wednesday. Organized by Louis Hter, Ruth and Grafton town road commissioner, they reported to the Boone County sheriff and were assigned to assist at a farm near the Chrysler plant, with equipment contributions from Custom Farm Services, Leroy Wirsing Excavating, Ben Hansford Chevrolet, Grafton township, and Bowl Hi.

Huntley High School musical themed Broadway in Miniature
The Huntley High School musical, a joint band and chorus program themed Broadway in Miniature, was held April 28 and drew about 350 attendees. Music Boosters arranged tables in the gym where guests enjoyed coffee and fruit juice during the performance.

Flagpole moved to park site in Donahoe Woods

The Huntley Lions Club celebrated 20 years since its charter with a dinner at Ever Lane. Original 31 members began in April 1947 with a dinner in a Catholic Church basement. Dan Adams of Clarendon Hills and Earle Johnson, the only charter member present, received commemorations as seven of the original members are deceased.
