McHenry County Treasurer Reports Bid Results On County Fund Invest
McHenry County Treasurer Cal Skinner Jr reports 300000 dollars in county funds were invested at 4.5 percent last week. Two thirds went to Home State Bank of Crystal Lake. 100000 to McHenry State Bank. Bids came from ten of fourteen banks, averaging 4.27 percent, with earlier bids averaging 4.12 percent. Skinner says higher interest lowers taxes.

Boy Scouts Tour Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant
Troop 167 members toured the Belvidere plant on March 10 visiting a 43 acre manufacturing building and 250 acre site. They saw 19 truck docks, four railroad tracks, coal use near 125 tons daily, and steam output about 2 760 000 pounds. Scout leaders and many named Scouts accompanied the group.
