Girl Scout Sunday planned for March 7 with Brownies and Juniors attending church services in uniform at First Congregational St Mary Catholic and Trinity Lutheran. Leaders will join services. Brownie and Junior leaders will be at each church.
Huntley Unit 673 awarded $25 savings bonds to top finishers in the Americanism Essay contest with theme If We Have Another Two Hundred Years. Winners Timothy Swanson and Jeffrey Roesslein led Class I and II respectively. essays proceed to district competition.
About 650 tickets were sold for the breakfast and more served than last year. Net raffle profit was around 85 dollars. Winners include Betty Mercatoris AM FM Radio and Mr Livingston calculator. Troop thanks supporters and listed sponsors and volunteers.
The Senior Citizens announce a bake sale on April 24 at the Congregational Church starting at 10 a.m. Proceeds support Huntley’s Bi Centennial and 125th Anniversary celebrations.
Thirty two MCC students are listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges 1976 edition. Selections reflect academics service to community and leadership. Certificates of Merit will be awarded. Huntley Mary Sigrist is among the listed.
The weekly menu lists meals for each weekday. Monday features hamburgers on buns with chips corn cookies and milk. Tuesday serves chicken and gravy with mashed potatoes peas and carrots fruit cup and juice and milk. Wednesday offers tomato soup with crackers tuna sandwiches carrot sticks fruit cup and milk. Thursday includes chili with crackers peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cottage cheese sliced peaches and milk. Friday notes no school due to teacher institute.
In Huntley Illinois the School Board met at the High School February 20 1976 at 7 30 p m. Present were Ziller Brett Schneider Ruth Bond Simpson Jones and Stading with no absentees. The board approved amendments to job descriptions the One and Five Year Plan the 04 level for Special Education Building Facilities for one year and the 1976 77 school calendar. An executive session at 10 20 p m reviewed staff and classified personnel and a student matter. The meeting adjourned at 11 30 p m.
Ellen Ervin daughter of James and unnamed Ervin of Myrtle Street Huntley wins 1976 DAR Award and Anthony Korwin son of Stanley and Mrs Korwin of 10916 Bonnie Brae Huntley wins 1976 SAR Good Citizenship. Ellen active in G A A yearbook student government NHS ranked first in class plans nursing at Marquette. Tony president of Student Council in band yearbook NHS Scouting will study Industrial Technology at Eastern Illinois University.
