Union civic officials and NI Gas officials commemorated 50 years of gas service with a lighting ceremony at Village Hall. NI Gas executive Edward Sheehan outlined future plans while recalling 1962 achievements and a film showcased the North Illinois pipeline project. The Union gas franchise began in 1912 with 1913 main and distribution completion, when pipe work was done by horse and wagon and wages ranged from 10 to 25 cents per hour.

Huntley FFA Team Places in State Dairy Livestock Contest
Seven Huntley FFA members and chaperones returned from Champaign Urbana where Huntley students competed in the State Dairy and Livestock Judging Contest. Dairy team members were Larry Johnson Gary Borhart and Allen Borhart. livestock team included Wayne Workowski Lee Linnenkol and Douglas Swanson. David Hemmer earned second in Holder's Contest among 16. Final placings to be posted after tabulations.

Huntley Lions Teeners beat Hampshire 6-5 after leading 6-0 into the seventh. Brent Weber pitched well with 15 strikeouts and two hits allowed. Zerbel and Enstrom closed the seventh as Hampshire mounted a comeback. Rainout makeup vs Maple Park set for June 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Huntley, with Burlington games scheduled.

Fire on Church Street Involves Abandoned Car
Huntley fire department was called to extinguish a smouldering fire in an abandoned automobile on North Church Street. Five boys under 13 started the blaze with matches, damaging wires and the instrument panel. Chief Richard Nelson ordered them to perform tasks for their parents and report to him.

Huntley Lions Club annual Chicken Bar-B-Q at Huntley Fire Barn on June 23 served 970 people including 120 children. Henry Marlowe led cooks and firemen in preparing the meal with potatoes beans cole slaw and barbecue sauce. Funds support civic projects and new officers include David Rudy president and Paul Ortlieb 1st vice president.

Annual Home Bureau Meeting Held by McHenry County Extension
The 45th annual McHenry County Homemakers Extension Association meeting was held at the McHenry Country Club on Tuesday June 25 with a 11 30 luncheon. Officers installed included Mrs Plate as President and other officers and chairmen were announced. One hundred twenty four active members attended along with three charter members two past presidents and 24 guests.
