Huntley Village Board July Meeting Highlights
The Huntley Village Board met at 8 00 p m at Village Hall with Mayor Brill and Trustees present. They issued a liquor license to Lewis Wilder for Town Tap and authorized Baxter and Woodman to design a new street between Coral and Main by the Fire Station. Evergreen Manor developer Martain Heinz plans to pave streets after annexation into the Village. The board approved purchasing a Tee Pan to upgrade drinking water supply and accepted audit by Harry Burns. A resolution to fund the planning commission with federal money was passed to guide zoning within a 14 mile radius. The meeting adjourned.

Seven Men Arrested On July Fourth Face Trial In Algonquin
Five of seven men arrested early July 4 in Algonquin stood trial July 7 before Judge Jerry Dodge. Two defendants faced two charges each while the others had one. All five convicted pleaded guilty and paid 25 dollars fine plus 5 dollars costs per ticket. The two others were continued to July 14. Charges included open liquor in a motor vehicle disorderly conduct and illegal possession of fireworks.

Two Fireworks Displays Light Huntley Sky
Two simultaneous Fourth of July fireworks showed near Huntley. One display at Powder Park south of Huntley by Ed Onsrude and Moretti from Carpentersville Fire Works. The other by Kenneth Bakley for a family reunion on North Church Street. Mrs Bakley hopes to continue the annual event. Chester Scott previously hosted displays at Warren Turf Nursery north of town on Route 47.
Legion Family Picnic at Grafton Park Crystal Lake
The Huntley American Legion hosted its second annual picnic at Grafton Park Beach in Crystal Lake last Sunday. About 125 Legionnaires and families attended with chicken dinner served or ham burgers and hot dogs. Members played horseshoes, cards, and swam. Mike Kiley led the event with thanks to Bennett and the Grafton Park Board for parking and ground space.

Lions Install Officers in Crystal Lake Dinner
The Lions club held its annual officers installation Tuesday night June 26 at Colmbans in Crystal Lake. Officers named include President Marlow and vice presidents Rudy O Conner Ortlib Jamer Mitter Tail Twister and Directors Zimmerman Range Schul tz Through. Ernest Hansen of Cary installed as officer and zone 3 deputy pieck announced members to receive 100 percent attendance pins at a future meeting. A picnic at Webers Ranch is planned for August.

Swimming Classes Rained Out in Grafton Park
Three shifts for swimming lessons at Crystal Lake Grafton Park Beach draw 375 signed up children from Grafton township and Huntley area. Seven instructors train the group. Enrollment is 75 higher than last year.

Miss McHenry County 1962 Pageant Kicks Off Monday
Eight candidates will appear in two judging sessions beginning Monday night at Martinetti's to compete for the Miss McHenry County crown. The final on August 2 at the county fair will name Patricia Larsen’s successor. A dinner honors Miss Larsen and the contestants with sponsors recognized and judges prepared for evaluations.
