Sixteen seventh and eighth grade teams from Huntley Union St Pats Elgin St Joes Hampshire Woodstock compete for 24 trophies. Lion's Club sponsors the event billed as the biggest grade school tournament in Illinois.

About 120 members attended the 111th annual meeting on Friday January 18 at the American Legion Home. A roast beef dinner was served by the American Legion Auxiliary and centerpieces went to Mrs Arthur Garlieb recovering from a broken hip. Delwin Barhart presided as minutes and treasurer reports were reviewed and committee reports given. Board of directors elected unanimously for nine seats with members including Delwin Barhart Raymond Kelley Lawrence Ernesti C H Marsh Magnus Bungard Paul Ortleb Carl Runge Helmuth Thurow and Wayne Donahue. Forty door prizes were awarded to attendees including Gunther Wenk Bert Spangard Judy Hanson Mrs Erwin Wasserstrass Josephine Johnson E W Tessendorf Francis Ernesti Mrs Emery Mowers Carl Runge Harvey Davies Mrs Kuestner Erwin Wasserstrass and Daniel The Credit Union.

Huntley Boy Scout Special Meeting and Awards

The Huntley troop held a tenderfoot investure and advancement meeting at the Huntley American Legion Hall on Sunday January 21 from 2 30 to 5 p m. Fourteen boys attended with awards given to John Fawkes Tim McCormack Dave Stading Gary Britton Jim Riedl Stan Korwin Bruce Waddell and Bill Feller who also received pins and was promoted to patrol leader. The troop earned a camporee award and Bill Feller presented camping films with Vern Lusted attending as a guest. Refreshments followed.
