Huntley firemen were dispatched Monday at 11 30 a.m. to the Roy Diedrick residence to extinguish a fuse box fire. The fire was controlled within minutes.
Phil Sprinkle announces a Health and Sex Education series for male junior high students set for March 13 2 27. Lake Region YMCA sponsors with school cooperation for boys and their fathers. Miss Faye Marlowe daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Marlowe Huntley was crowned Miss Illinois Feed and Grain at the annual convention dinner dance held at the Pere Marquette Hotel Peoria on Tuesday January 14. She is a University of Illinois sophomore studying music.
The 117th annual meeting of the 1st Congregational Church in Huntley was held on Sunday January 19 with a pot luck lunch. mimeographed activity reports were shared and Hirb Eggers led an informal discussion on future trends. A planning committee will report to the Board of Trustees or congregation if action is needed and new officers and board members were elected.
McHenry County Supervisors hear William Ward’s Ward Plan to apply the one man one vote rule. The proposal would reallocate all 84 counties by population and cut the county board size from 28 to about 11, with smaller townships losing seats.
The Goodwill Industries truck will be in Huntley on Monday Jan 27 to collect repairable clothing shoes and housewares for disabled trainees and employees. For pickup arrangements bags programs and information call 669-5680.
Seventy five attended the Annual Dinner Meeting of the Family Service and Mental Health Clinic at the Timbers in Woodstock. W H Tammens and others presented annual reports while Mary Ladd presented a $325 check for a fireproof file cabinet. A long slate of board members was announced, with Huntley and Crystal Lake representatives noted. Continued on Page Five.
The Huntley Community Credit Union will hold its annual shareholders meeting at the Congregational Church in Huntley on Wednesday January 29 at 8 p.m. Attorney Vincent Reilly and Merrill Theviot will speak. New directors for 1969 will be elected. All shareholders are encouraged to attend.
First Congregational Church of Huntley announces its annual Hobo Supper for Saturday March 1 1969. Proceeds support church activities and community outreach.
Susan Jirik daughter of Mr and Mrs Ronald Jirik was chosen by Huntley High School faculty and seniors to receive the Daughters of the American Revolution award. She will be honored by the Elgin DAR chapter at a February tea and may gain further state honors later.
