Richard Riley of Standard Oil Agricultural Chemicals will discuss management problems in herbicides and insecticides and current chemical options for farming at the third meeting of Huntley’s adult farm management course. The session is Thursday January 18 at 8 p.m. in the Agr room.
Stockholders of Huntley Community Medical Center will meet January 25 at 8:00 PM in Village Hall. Agenda includes election of directors and any other business properly brought before the meeting.
Genoa beat Huntley 56 to 52 in overtime. Box scores list Genoa scorers Buback Awe Magee Smalley Louderback with 16 9 16 13 2 points and Huntley players Kahl Cole Henning Stading Frohling Jori with 13 13 10 7 0 points.
Two Huntley residents, Paul Walter Tulacz and Lawrence Potts, collided on the Carpentersville Huntley road last Friday January 12. Snow obscured vision. Potts was hospitalized with four stitches and a cut nose while Tulacz sustained a cut lip. Both cars were towed to Ben Hansford's garage.
The State Bank of Huntley held its annual stockholders meeting on January 11, 1962. Officers elected for the coming year were William McCredie as President, Henry Marlowe as Vice President, Wayne Miller as Executive Vice President, Roy Bankes as Cashier, with Louis Van Acker Earle Heinemann and Henry Wells as directors. Mr Wells succeeds Earle Johnson on the board. Wells also serves as a director of Skokie Trust and Savings Bank. The bank reported its best earnings and deposit totals to date.
Guidance on earning quarters of coverage through work, farm earnings, or self employment. Details include credit thresholds: $50 per calendar quarter for wage work, $150 for farm work, $100 earned per quarter, and $400 net annual profit for self employment. Also notes special limits for young workers and family farm scenarios.
The Huntley First Congregational Church voted unanimously to adopt the United Church of Christ Congregational as its legal name while keeping the local designation. The merger with Evangelical Reformed Church was completed in Philadelphia on the fourth of July last summer. Officers elected include Deacons Donald Glissendorf John Rugh Deaconesses Mae Chesak Kate Boncvsky board members Bernice Kalsow Perl Jensen George Adams.
Robert Schultz said Schultz Drugs will run a 2 for 1 sale from January 18 to January 27. The event is an annual McKesson Wholesale Drug Co. promotion. other McKesson clients will host similar sales during the same period. A list of specials appears on the newspaper's back page.
The State Bank of Hampshire board, meeting January 10 1962, approved retroactive to January 1 1962 a 4 percent maximum legal rate on deposits of one year or more and a 3 32 percent rate on all other savings accounts six months or more, compounded semiannually.
The Junior Clo vers and Grafton Girls 4-H clubs hold a combined meeting Monday at 7 30 PM at the Jenson home on the Huntley Algonquin road, first farm after Bowl-Hi. Eligible girls are ten or older or will be ten by July 1 this year.
