Huntley News Highlights Local Events and Growth in 1964

The United Church of Christ Congregational marked its 100 year sanctuary anniversary. The State Bank of Huntley installed gas lights and presented a lighting ceremony. Population is projected to rise 120 percent by 1980, to just over 2500, while police and fire services gain upgrades including a new squad car and polling place changes. Jul dates run through August with weddings births and school enrollments noted.

Huntley Community Credit Union Plans Annual Dinner

The 14th annual dinner meeting for Huntley Community Credit Union members is set for Thursday at 7 30 p m January 1 1965 at the American Legion Home. A roast beef dinner will be served by the American Legion ladies auxiliary. Attorney Raymond J Kelley and Delwin Barhart will report on the year. Tickets, limited to 100, are on sale at the credit union office with no door sales. Over thirty door prizes will be awarded at the close.

State Bank of Huntley Elects 1965 Officers at Annual Meeting

The State Bank of Huntley held its January 7 1965 Stockholders Meeting. Officers elected for 1965 include William McCredie as president Henry Lowe as vice president W M S as executive vice president R L Banks as cashier David Detwiler as assistant cashier Gertrude Koppen as assistant cashier Janet Hj as assistant cashier. The bank reported substantial growth in deposits due to customer service and support from patrons.

Winter Dance by Cong Choir at United Church

The winter dance sponsored by the Choir of the United Church of Christ was held January 9 in the church Social Hall. A 14 piece Lar kin High School band played a varied program while intermissions featured Douglas Jordi trumpet piano by Faye Marlowe and David Johnson singing On the Road to Mandalay. The hall was decorated with snowflakes and special lighting for a Winter Whirl theme. Refreshments of punch and cookies were served all evening.

McHenry County Feeder Banquet Scheduled Jan 28

The 3rd annual McHenry County Livestock Feeder Banquet will be Thursday January 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the VFW Hall Woodstock. Crawford Thayer of Jamesway Manufacturing will present a humorous yet serious talk titled Trends to Power Choring. Tickets are available in advance from listed local organizers.

Fire alarm response stops blaze at Huntley home

Firemen from Huntley rushed to the Peter Hardt residence on North Church Street at 12 25 Saturday and contained a fire that started in an overstuffed swivel chair where a Hardt child sat. Neighbor Norm Zimmerman helped by tossing the chair outside, preventing major damage. some smoke damage to the room contents occurred.
