Mr. Stanley Koch accepted the chairmanship of the January 1967 Huntley March of Dimes campaign. He urged stronger support for birth defect programs noting 250000 American children affected yearly and emphasized prenatal care and early detection research progress.

New Manager at Pattersons in Huntley

Gene Lindsey has become manager of the J. H. Patterson Co in Huntley. He arrived from Flanagan Illinois where he ran a retail lumber yard for twelve years. Lindsey and his family live in Huntley with Norma and their six children. Dave Ody remains with the firm at Rockford, who had led the Huntley yard since 1957.

Police Report: Thefts at Farmside and Two Cars

Huntley police report a ham stolen from a Joe Manning residence freezer and $75 in tools plus a tool box taken. A window was pried and glove box rifled at Charlies Lamb’s car in a garage. the Ed Hays car in the same garage was broken into. All occurred Sunday night January 1.

Voters to Decide 21 Cent Education Tax Increase in 1967

Information from School District 158 outlines a proposed 21 cent rise in the educational tax rate from 1.60 to 1.81 per 100 assessed valuation on January 14 1967. The plan aims to raise about 32141 annually to fund teachers salaries custodians supplies and building expenses as enrollment grows and a new high school addition nears completion.

The Vocational Agriculture department at Huntley High School hosts a series of adult classes. The first topic Breeding by Plan will be led by Mel Johnson of Northern Illinois Breeding Co. on Thursday January 5 from 8 to 10 p.m. Refreshments served and all interested are invited. The following Thursday January 12 covers Farm Safety with guest speaker Larry Williams of Bloomington Illinois, 8 to 10 p.m.

On day two Hebron fell to Harvard and Harvard then lost to Marengo who captured the tournament. Final standings list Magengd fret Harvard second Hiawatha third and Huntley first in the consolation bracket. Huntley has 11 games this year with 6 wins and 6 losses. The starting lineup includes three sophomores one junior and one senior.
