Last Thursday night at Bowl Hi Lanes a date night bowling event aims to raise funds for civic efforts. An additional date night is planned at Bowl Wii Lanes in the last week of April to push total donations to 100 dollars across two nights.
The school will offer measles immunization for students in kindergarten through fourth grade and for fall kindergarteners if parents desire. Immunization date is Tuesday March 8 1966 with a $1.50 per child cost. Permit slips were sent home with lower grade students and must be returned by February 24 1966 and other slips by February 25 1966 to ensure vaccine supply.
Ruth Fenwick named Red Cross Chairman and Wagfie Miller made Director for the local unit. Woodstock office serves 30 943 families and prioritizes service to local service members and families. In November the McHenry County Unit aided 29 service members including five from Huntley. The chapter assisted with the Crystal Lake tornado disaster and promotes water safety and first aid. The Woodstock office has run a deficit and seeks support for 1966.
The Huntley High School Band and Chorus traveled to Hebron High School Wednesday to present a Winter Concert Assembly for Hebron students. Hebron will return the favor with an exchange assembly later this spring and exchanges are planned with Richmond High School.
The Tri CountyBasketball grade school tournament sponsored by the Huntley Lions Club was held last week at the local gym. In the 5th 6th grade race Humildy’s team finished fourth after a 22 12 final to St Mary’s Woodstock. St Joseph’s Elgin won the 5th 6th grade crown 21 15 over St Pats. The 7th 8th grade division saw Huntley fall to St Mary’s Elgin 42 38 as Woodstock beat St Pats 37 34 for the title.
F F A members announce a 8:00 p m Saturday March 5 1966 banquet at the United Church of Christ in Huntley Illinois. Turkey dinner served tickets available at Chuck's Barber Shop. Lonnie Millerman invites all FFA members to attend.
The Hobos stage a dinner show on February 26 featuring numbers from Oliver and classic tunes like It's a Fine Life and Sentimental Journey. The Beatle Bums perform Wouldn't It Be Lovely and Bottle-ets play the Silk Umbrella Polka while deer awards are handed out. Tickets for the 7:45 seating are sold at the door.
A sequence of local happenings includes Cub Scout Blue and Gold Dinner with parents at U C C Social Hall on Thursday February 24. District Basketball finals at Harvard on Friday February 26. Hobo Dinner on Saturday February 21. Adult Physical Education class February 28 from 7 to 9 PM. McHenry County Holstein Club Annual Dinner at U C C Social Hall Huntley on Tuesday March 1. Annual FFA Parents and Sons Banquet on Saturday March 5. Sacred Concert by Elmhurst Women's Choir at U C C Congregational on Sunday March 6 at 7:30.
Mrs. Ruth Montayne became the first TOPS Sugar Shunners member to graduate to KOPS Keep Off Pounds Sensibly. She joined the Crystal Duties club in 1965 and reached a minus 58 percent goal in December before transferring to Huntley on January 1 1966.
Huntley exploded for a season high to defeat Cary Grove 88 to 76 in the 1966 District Tournament opener. Brent Weber led with 28 points, Penny Enstrom added 22, Rick Zerbel 17, as Huntley built a 46 33 halftime lead and shot 56 percent for the game.
University of Illinois agronomy specialists host a Corn Production school on Thursday February 24 from 10 00 a m to 3 00 p m at the Farm Bureau Auditorium Woodstock Topics include seedbed preparation soil tests crop rotations optimum pH limestone requirements fertilizers and planning a complete package of corn production practices
