A Boy Scouts benefit Bowling Night is set at Bowl Hi Lanes on Thursday February 29 at 9 pm. Proceeds fund new tents for the troop with funds deposited at Heineman Hardware Store for equipment purchases there.
Fourtytwo employees of US Magnetic Tape Company were feted at a profit sharing banquet at Floyd's Restaurant in Carpentersville. Over 700 employees shared in 161382.43 dollars distributed as 9.4 cents per hour. The company cited 1967 as a strong year amid 14615636 in sales and 709651 in earnings.
Huntley McCormick Place hosts the fifth annual Hobo-Demo dinner on February 24 1968. Tickets sold out with two seatings at 5 45 and 7 45. Attendees are directed to use the old social hall and Front Street entrances of the church for each serving.
A notice asks residents to keep Saturday night March 30 open for a PTA comedy show to raise funds for the local library. Proceeds support library activities and programs through the community event.
Dr. John R. Tambone announces a doorless Heart Collection center system for McHenry County to raise funds for vital heart and blood vessel disease research. Centers will report daily totals to a campaign chairman with weekly county receipts tallied by Treasurer James Hodges.
Huntley Board of Education met February 14 with all members present except Lamb. Minutes approved. Transfers of 37.82 from Educational to Revolving Fund approved. Three architects interviewed for a bus garage and custodian storage. size to be determined. Exterminating service approved at 60 first month and 12.60 monthly thereafter. Gene Strickland hired as part time custodian four hours daily at 3.00 per hour. Two oxygen units approved for grade and high schools for emergencies. Meeting adjourned near midnight.
Reservations for the World Flower and Garden Show at the International Amphitheatre Chicago are filling fast. Sponsored by the McHenry County Homemakers Extension Association, buses depart March 27 and 28 from Harvard Woodstock Crystal Lake and Cary with prices 5.00 and 4.50 including show admission. Tickets transferable with no cancellations.
