A Huntley School All Band Concert will be held Monday February 19 at 8 00 PM in the grade school auditorium. The High School Band Junior High Band and elementary band will perform with about 140 students participating. The school choruses will not participate but several vocal and instrumental ensembles will take part.
The State Bank of Huntley will close Friday February 16 from 1 to 4 pm in memory of Mrs. Della Brill wife of director Wilpault Brill.
The Rev Herbert Beecken of the United Church of Christ will address the First Congregational Church in Huntley on Monday February 19 at 8 00 p m. He teaches English and Bible classes at Niijima Christian Boys Schools Annaka Japan and aids with chapel services school planning and evangelistic work. He began missions in 1949 after 14 months in China before the communist takeover. The public is invited. refreshments follow in the Social Hall.
Firefighters battled a rear blaze at Farleys grocery in Huntley Saturday after 1 p.m. flames gutted the attic and top floor while smoke hampered access. Fire Chief Jack Anderson noted asphalt shingles delayed roof breakthrough and crews worked in frigid conditions, with the building recently sold to Philip Randazzo. The interior left with loss on the top floor and downstairs empty since 1983 when Cardinal Food Store operated there. The Harry Wheelock family, tenants, carried what they could as flames spread from the chimney area to the roof.
The Second performance of the annual Hobo Dinner and Floor Show by the First Congregation Church chancel choir in Huntley is sold out with only eight tickets left for a 5 45 p m start on Saturday February 24. Reservations: Mr and Mrs Jirik 138 Woodstock St phone 669 5821. Proceeds support the church and choir, with this year promising the best show yet.
The February 8 meeting of the Graf ton Township Board of Auditors included regular business and discussion on relief roll access. Mrs Leona Nelson received affidavit forms to view relief payments but was warned against misuse with potential penalties. Spectators questioned county matters, and attendees discussed petitions and the Board of Local Improvements with the township attorney and attorney general involvement.

The Huntley Girl Scouts announce a door to door cookie sale on February 15 to 22 with five varieties at 50 cents per box. A 5 cent per box troop profit funds the Huntley Troop Treasury, 24 percent supports Subaquay Council camping at three camps, 20 percent goes to the Southern Biscuit Company, and deliveries occur March 29 through April 3.
Huntley F F A president Chuck Ruth was nominated for the State Farmer Degree in a final competition with 700 members. Thirty thirteen of Section Six were selected, with Ruth among the top three for the Sectional Star Farmer Award. Degree factors include experience 60 percent and leadership 40 percent with scholarship considered.
