Kindergarten Registration Opens at Huntley School in April
Huntley Elementary Principal Mr. Murphy sets April 23 for 1968-69 kindergarten registration from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Children must be five by November 30 1968 with birth certificate and health records including Diphtheria polio tetanus smallpox measles and whooping cough immunity. Kindergarten visits for morning or afternoon run April 30 to May 2 with a parent present.

School District Extends Easter Break Four Days
The Board of Education of district No. 158 adds four days to Easter vacation as five unused snow days cancel. School dismisses at 3:25 P.M. Thursday April 11 and resumes at the regular time Monday April 22 1968. May the joys and blessings of Easter season be with all.

Palm Sunday Greeting At Congregational Church
The First Congregational Church drew a large crowd for Palm Sunday worship as 14 confirmands joined the church. Two choirs and a bell choir performed, naming several members. Maundy Thursday communion is set for 8:00 p.m. and Easter Sunday features a 6:15 service with breakfast, Sunday School at 9:30, and Worship at 10:45.

Farleys Store Destroys In Fire After Years Of Change
The Farley grocery building once owned by Waller Farley and later operated as Cardinal Foods under Don Bruggers burned on February 10 at 1 PM. Extreme cold and roof ice hindered fire crews from extinguishing the blaze. Philip Randazzo, who purchased the property from Lee Dwyer, surrounds the basement hole while seeking a tenant.

Huntley annual athletic banquet celebrated Huntley gram mar school and high school athletes at the Fire Barn. Grafton Township Holds Annual Meeting and Budget Talks
The Grafton township convened on April 2 at the township garage. Leroy Wirsing named Moderator. A 335 increase boosted the assessors farm census salary under a new state law. The town fund budget and levy were approved with notes on higher costs due to Schachtner’s salary raise and lower general assistance. The Road Budgets rose to 27 000 with expanded roadworks after the Bartlett subdivision, and the Hard Road Fund was approved though its legality was debated. A Crystal Lake resident claimed full protest refunds, and discussions touched on roads versus schooling costs.
