A railroad accident occurred in Huntley causing disruption and prompt emergency response. Investigators are assessing track conditions and causes while local authorities coordinate with railroad officials. No definitive injuries or casualties reported at this time.
The Young Democrats of Mc Henry County will meet Wednesday evening April 7 at 7 p.m. at Ray's Chalet at Routes 31 and 14 Crystal Lake. All interested Democrats are invited and members should bring a prospective member if possible.
Village board meets Thursday April 1 at 8 p m. Town and Country Art Show runs April 1 and 2 at the Farm Bureau Building in Woodstock.
Grafton Park Board commissioners race on April 6. town meetings set for Grafton at 8 p m and Rutland at 2 p m. Citizens urged to vote and attend sessions.
On Saturday April 10 the school board election runs from 12 noon to 7 p.m. at Village Hall. A PTA bake sale will be held upstairs at Village Hall starting at 1 p.m.
The Huntley Parent-Teacher Association hosts a bake sale on Saturday April 10 in the village hall starting at 1 p.m. Funds support summer music camp grants for local students and Post-Prom party fundraising. Election for school board members also occurs that day.
Huntley Consolidated School schedules its annual athletic banquet for Thursday April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Fire Barn. Grades 5 through 12 athletes cheerleaders and managers will receive awards. Lions Club sponsorship and public attendance are invited. Brody University of Illinois star will be guest speaker.
Chief N Son reports night break-in at Seilers Sinclare Station between 9 P.M. Saturday and 8 A.M. Sunday. Entry gained by jimming front door after failed side window attempt. Safe and cash drawer opened. a bank pouch with legal panels stolen, no money taken. pouch found at Main and Myrtle. Laundromat on Huntley robbed last Sunday between 11 A.M. and 4 P.M. About $40 stolen.
Huntley juniors and seniors plan a Post Prom party on Saturday May 1 following the dance. Last year the event was at the Huntley Fire Station with entertainment by local adults and Chicago professionals. Citizens are asked to donate by leaving a check at the State Bank of Huntley payable to Post Prom Committee.
March 25 meeting at Huntley Village Hall gathered Grafton township candidates for April 6 election. Speakers from the Grafton Good Government Party discussed road improvement, building code enforcement, and cooperation across township lines while critics alleged tax protests, poor sanitary conditions, and lack of voter access to budgets.
The Grafton Park Board met March 24 with all officials present. They approved minutes and bills, voted to publish specimen ballots, and set election judge pay at 10 dollars with 5 dollars for poll setup. A petition issue was discussed. certification was missing, 370 signatures noted, and withdrawal approved pending later re filing. A April 7 meeting will canvass April 6 votes. next sessions set for April 21 and 28.
