Barn Burned Friday Night on McCulloch Farm
A lightning strike in a heavy storm touched Dr. McCulloch's round barn located about one and a half miles west and a half mile south of Humeston, destroying hay and farm implements. Tenant Chris Neal also suffered losses. the barn was insured for several hundred dollars with Wayne County Mutual. Earlier in the week McCulloch lost three registered Percheron mares and one graded mare to wheat poisoning, plus one mare survived. Jess Able had stored wheat for another barn and careless access allowed mares to overeat.

Valkovitch Acquitted In Self Defense Case At Corydon
Frank Valkovitch was found not guilty of murder in the June killing of Pete Moris at Seymour. The defense argued Moris drew a pistol from his shirt and Valkovitch closed with him, Moris being shot with his own gun. The state failed to prove Valkovitch owned or carried a gun.

Baby’s fall injures Roe family child in plaster cast
A 1 year old boy of Mr and Mrs Walter Roe fell from a second story window Monday and broke his right leg while his mother prepared the room for cleaning. A carpet throw earlier may have lessened the shock and his hip was bruised. The doctor set the limb in a plaster cast. The mother had left the baby briefly and ran upstairs for a bucket of water when the accident occurred.
