Engineers at Iowa State College report corn heat value is low and costly to use for home heating. Tests show corn with 8 per cent moisture yields 7500 BTU and 40 per cent efficiency, requiring 14 1 pounds of corn per 100 pounds of coal, and 57 bushels to match a ton of anthracite. They advise saving corn for cattle or feeding if possible and using other fuels or moldy corn only as a last resort. Campbell returns to Clarinda for an indefinite stay after about a month at home.
