Acquittal in Bentl ey Woods Stock Case at Corydon
The State dropped charges against H. W. Bentley and F. M. Woods in district court at Corydon after days of trial. Lawyer James Parsons contended they acted in good faith based on representations by the Associated Packing Co. and that Woods held about $10,000 in stock. A jury selection spanned Monday with fifty names drawn. twelve jurors were finally chosen from thirty two summoned. Local names include J. K. Lowe, A. B. Duncan, Fred Allison, W. Auto Thief Bennett Killed by Moran in Seymour Shootout
Harold Bennett age nineteen was killed during a confrontation with town marshal H. Lord in Seymour after resisting arrest for a stolen car linked to farmer Mike Wilson. Bennett and Frank Snyder fled as shots were exchanged. coroner testimony suggested Snyder fired the fatal shot. Wilson reported his car stolen. both youths were residents of Stockdale Ohio.
