Jenkins and Rounds Acquitted in Cravens Killing
Ed Jenkins and Treasie Rounds were found not guilty after a week long trial in Corydon for the Christmas night killing of Milo Cravens near Clio. Jenkins admitted the shooting but said it was self defense. The verdict followed high county interest. J J Hannigan C McKinler F A Garland and D D Johnson were in Humeston Monday.

Death of Sylvester Collins noted in Humeston region
Sylvester Collins aged about fifty, longtime Humeston resident, died after a long illness on March 15 1907. Born December 15 1856 in Guernsey County Ohio he moved to Wayne County Iowa at twenty three. He married Melissa Carter in Leon on April 2 1896 and is survived by his wife and son Carl, plus four brothers and four sisters. He taught in the district schools and briefly ran a general store before a long illness since 1867. Funeral services were held March 18 at the Christian church with Rev Brown officiating. interment at Green Bay cemetery. His widow expresses gratitude to neighbors.
