A third serious accident in a week at the Central Iowa Fuel Company mine near Chariton killed miner Fred Plows aged twenty. He was crushed while repairing a belt as the cage descended. Plows lived in Tucas county. his mother is Mrs. William Plows of Lucas. Another driver Stanley Cobinsky was instantly killed when a car ran over him in the same mine. his neck was broken.
