Neighbors gathered to harvest 300 acres of corn on the Don Kasper farm aided by volunteers and equipment. Humeston City Council Discusses Endloader and Water Work Payment
The Humeston City Council met Monday evening to discuss an ancient and ailing endloader as the main item. The council voted to send a check for 1000 dollars to the firm for work on water pumps totaling 5700.65, with earlier estimates between 900 and 1100. The aim was to forestall a meeting with company representatives and City Engineer Bob Buss over work done during the warranty period.

Kay Street Closes Kay's Tavern After Ill Health
Kay Street announces the closing of Kay's Tavern and dry-cleaning business, citing poor health and no plans to reopen. Street bought the tavern and clothing lines in 1966 from the late Bob Linton, who had started the business in 1933 as a billiard parlor with tobacco and soft drinks. Beer was added in 1935 and a men’s clothing line in 1937, later moving next door in 1954 to add women’s wear. in 1966 Street bought the tavern while Hoyt Snyder took over the clothing lines.

Rites Held for Ruby Johnson 80 in Decatur County
Funeral services were held for Ruby Opal Johnson 80 who died Friday at Decatur County Hospital after a short stay in Leon Care Center. Born July 18 1905 in Clio she was the daughter of Dudley and Catherine Powell and married James Frederick Johnson Feb 24 1927. She lived around Clio and Humeston most of her life. Surviving are two sons Lawrence Broken Arrow Oklahoma James Pensacola Florida two sisters Alpha Boston Lucas and Orpha Smith Humeston nine grandchildren eight great grandchildren.
