Number 1731 P. S. C. EL begins at 6:30 p.m. with preaching at 7:30. Cottage prayer at Bro. Andrew Gardner’s home Wednesday 7:30. Choir practice at 8:30 at Bro. W. EL Berkey’s. The Ladies' Aid meets with Andrew Gardner Thursdays p.m. Sister Knapp asks all members to attend and bring monthly offerings.
Moore Bros proprietors of the Economy store announce a new Allerton general store opening March 1 with J C Bay as manager. The branch will stock a large cash sale merchandise range in the Phillips building to serve local demand and stir competition.
A list of passengers to Leon Friday includes Mrs. John Winland Mrs. Abrahamson Mrs. Ed Fox Mrs. B. E. Rushing Mrs. 8. Beavers Mrs. M. W. Hamilton and Mrs. George Franklin. They attended a convention in St. Joseph. Dr. W F Lazear traveled to St. Joseph Wednesday for the Missouri Valley Veterinary Association semi annual convention and returned home Friday.
The Princess presents a strong program with The Twoles in a varied evening cast led by George Engesser and his wife, plus four principal stars. Theatergoers enjoy musical numbers, humor, and multiple features including The Girl from the Real Success and The Million Dollar Doll with prices at 25 50 and 75 cents.
The tenth annual Kansas City Motor Show drew about 200000 visitors at the J J Case Building. The KC exhibit filled 180000 square feet across five floors with 28 displays including Ford Locomobile and Studebaker gold car valued at 30000 pounds. The gold Studebaker Six touring car, costly and lavish, drew crowds. the Ford Motor Company supplied half of U S production at the time.
The article notes President Wilson will be the oldest to take the oath in sixty years, since Buchanan in 1837 at age sixty six. It lists older presidents such as Adams, Taylor, Harrison, Roosevelt, and others, marking Roosevelt as the youngest at forty two.
Arthur Hazen plans a sale at Humeston stockyards next year Saturday at 2 50 selling 35 extra good sheep and 3 good miles. A E Ruddel sets a public sale next Saturday February 2 at the Mart Kehogg farm two miles southeast of Cambria with six horses 11 cattle 500 bushels of corn and assorted implements. A first Wednesday service at the Congregational church fills the auditorium and chapel as residents support a new Homeston community singing effort. Rev. Eckerson presides, with remarks on music’s value and prayers by Rev. Pontius, followed by violin and cello solos and songs including Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Floyd Farr, Rexall leader, leaves for Des Moines for the mid winter session of the Iowa Pharmaceutical association at the Chamberlain. He chairs the county legislative end and was named to an advisory board with Joseph Sutter and John T. Axt. The governor announced appointments including Afr. Farr to the advisory board amid a sale of recent druggist recommendations.
The condition of Mrs Mo Al Ahm is somewhat improved. Ralph Engerson and family left today for Marerline Missouri where they will make their home. Mrs Dave Farquhar and son of Chariton visited this week with Misses Judith and Francs Farquhar. Mrs Henry Joy and daughter Flaiva went to Kent Saturday to visit her daughter Mrs Lester Storm. Engeneee who has been a member of the IN.G. since August arrived yesterday from Des Moines. All the boys are expected home in a day or two.
A Cambria Christian church Sunday gathering celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Orris Hughes as they prepare to relocate near Le Roy. The basket dinner surprised the couple, followed by songs readings and instrumental music honoring their four year service as Sunday school superintendent. Also, the Sunshine Club surprised Mrs. W C Goudy with a aluminum coffee percolator and gold pins before her forthcoming departure from the community.
Mrs R C Surbaugh hosted a Monday birthday party for her son Kenneth and friend Eugene McMillan celebrating sixth birthday. Children played games and had a merry time with refreshments served. Attending were Eugene McMillan Ernest Caldwell Kenneth Wt Hen sui Roe Samuel Beardsly Wayne Kes Mork Rulph Baxter Benois and Kenneth.
A report describes a fall after a crowd involvement where a man hit the ground and struck his skull. Witnesses mention a person named Mr. Curry who is over ten years old. Authorities noted football era references and a broken display.
A large sale is announced featuring horses, cattle, hogs, and corn. The auction includes 3.0849 to 5.000 bushels of good corn and about 309 bushels of seed corn tested at one cent per unit. The sale details appear in an advertisement next week.

Church notices from Jay Eckerson and Methodist area reports describe services for February 25 with Sunday School and morning worship, a People’s Service at 7:30, and civilizaton lectures. Activities include Women’s Guild, Ladies Aid, ship contest planning, and youth Epworth League engagement.
The final Humeston Elston Van Wert and Weldon Declamatory Association contest will be at the Princess Theatre Humeston March 20. Twelve entrants from four schools advance after preliminaries with four orations four dramas and four humorous pieces. Humeston representatives include Neva Junkler Irma Brown and Lahr Gardner. Medals will be awarded in each class and special music provided.
