A dairy train tour by the Iowa State Dairy Association and the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad drew large crowds in Humeston on a Saturday, featuring dairy cow and judging contests for men and boys. Prizes ranged to seven dollars fifty for first and included entries from Arthur Hazen and W J Wood, with lectures by state dairy experts and demonstrations of prize dairy breeds, barns, and milking practices.

Local Play Draws Crowd at Princess in Uncle Ephraim Joel
A good size audience braved bad weather to see Uncle Ephraim's Summer Boarders at the Princess Wednesday. The three act novelty featured twenty eight cast members with strong recitations and music. Door receipts totaled 56 dollars with net proceeds earmarked for the congregational church. Cast included J N Warder Carroll Culmsee Lester Hasbrouck Mrs A Barker and daughter Miss Wilma Gladys Burdette Mare Berry Pearl Fristoe Velma Wyner Bernice Hines Helen Fox and others. Sixteen Years Since the Maine Explosion Remembrance
Sunday marked the sixteenth anniversary of the explosion of the battleship Maine in Havana harbor Cuba. The big battleship was blown up in the early morning of the fifteenth. Two local men lost their lives aboard the ill fated ship, though no local men were on board. The events leading to the explosion helped precipitate the war with Spain and the slogan Remember the Maine was kept in mind.

New Family Moves Into Town In Current Week

She leaves a husband and ten children with most relatives expected at the funeral at Congregational church.
