A J Black mail carrier between the post office and depot celebrated his seventy seventh birthday this week. Born in Indiana in 1888 he moved to Iowa in the early days and was a longtime friend of Senator La Follette. He makes seven daily trips between the office and Burlington station and remains hale and active, hoping to reach a century as a democrat.

Egg Record at Kenwood Park From 1914 to 1915
L T Ganextin reports a remarkable egg laying record from young pullets at Kenwood Park Iowa. In 102 days from November 1 1914 to February 10 1915 the birds laid 689 eggs, with a five day stretch of 71 eggs and earnings of forty cents per dozen in gold.
