The Humeston Gen Club held its first meeting on Monday night February 14 with good attendance and organized officers: President Judge Williams Vice President Chas Probasco Secretary Fred Monroe Treasurer Reid Henderson Field Captain Ben Grimm The last shoot is set for February 23 at Barry's Park with plans for weekly practice and later interclub contests.

Corydon bids opened for new school with bid over available funds
Last Thursday bids opened for a Corydon school project. Fifteen general contractors and several bidders for electrical work attended. The lowest total bid was 158 000, exceeding the district’s 135 500. No contracts were awarded. The 130 by 60 foot three story building would hold gym and home economics on the first floor, classrooms on the second, and auditorium library and study rooms on the third. Architect is Wm. Gordon of Des Moines. Local electrician H. P. Bair attended and may submit a proposal.

Stirling Leaves Centerville for Albuquerque for Health

Vivian Day of Humeston eighth grade won second place in a county spelling contest held in Corydon last Friday missing the word pharynx. Ruth Montgomery of South Fork township near Promise City won first, with about twenty contestants including Lydia Gungenhouser from Humeston Schools.

After an illustrated lecture at the opera house under the Alva F. Eaton Post the Legion event adjourned to the gym where the local Humelton post beat the Van Wert post 46 to 14. Local lineup included Ed Yates and Oscar Dennis as forwards Wm Yates at center Henry Hasbrouck and Bert Joy as guards with Alpheus Pool as substitute.
