The Wayne County Democrat prints a favorable likeness of Hon. J. E. Doze of Humeston announcing his bid for state senate in the Wayne Lucas district. Mrs A D McCulloch entertained the C E S Auxiliary Wednesday afternoon with thirty five guests. The hour was spent socially with fancy work. Luncheon was served by Mrs H T Smith Mrs J B Ford and Miss Harriet B Schooler. Out of town guests included Mr F M Gray Kellerton and Mr A T Maxwell Aaron Ohio.
A. D. McGuire of the New Era attended the first annual convention of the Towa Press Association in Des Moines with 350 editors present. The Savery hotel hosted the event and a banquet at the Chamberlain honored attendees. Arthur Brisbane, 51, spoke and was noted for his 33 years in journalism and $75 000 yearly salary.
Harry Sundquist found an eighteen pound dressed turkey wrapped in a girl’s waist above a haystack. The bundle, well weathered, showed only a snow‑covered corner. No tracks were found near the exceptionally tall stack, about twenty feet from the fence, leaving how the turkey got there a mystery.
The organization notes the passing of Mrs. Maria Latimer Mrs Latimer was a sister and co worker and a faithful Christian. They express sympathy to her family and urge members to follow her Christian virtues and example in pursuing the Father's will.

Fast colors vanish from ordinary goods with red border linens turning pink, blacks fading in cottons, and blues or reds on light trimmings running after washing. No known method prevents color transfer, leaving consumers with plain garments and household fabrics.

A county in the state expects Iowa to become the twelfth progressive state to grant women the ballot. Miss Dunlap reported Des Moines polling figures showing 21,284 in favor 2,503 against and 5,955 neutral. Humeston Fire Department expresses condolences and memorializes Frank Hobba, noting his active service and offering sympathy to his widow.

John Loney of Kentucky and Miss Daniel Loney of Chillicothe Missouri sought a marriage license from County Clerk Andrey T Dotts but were refused because they are first cousins. Dotts faced a 81 Gilbert fee loss and Justice J A Sinclair a 200 fee. The couple pursued a license in Missouri then Arkansas. The groom was about twenty five and the bride about eighteen with the courthouse officials involved.
Alfred Carter of Clay township sells horses cattle hogs and implements in a closing out sale set for Thursday February 24. The ad notes the sale is listed on another page and the Carters plan summer in Witten S D with daughter Mrs John Ruf. M J Evans holds a closing out sale on Wednesday February 23 featuring fifty head of stock including horses cattle and hogs before moving to Hameston. He will write insurance.
The first annual Wayne County Agricultural Society fair will run in Corydon from September and includes three days of racing with purses totaling 2675. premiums in education funded at 200 and prepared by Superintendent Mrs Jennie J Clark. Buildings planned include amphitheatre floral hall speed horse and cattle barns poultry hog and sheep buildings with specified sizes and reinforced concrete foundations. A P Burton to supervise erection J L Stark named poultry superintendent J K Green to receive stock payments and Arthur McCabe noted as a director enthusiastic about the event with next meeting set for February 23.
The Corydon church prepares to entertain the District convention of the Disciples of Christ on April 4-5, hosting 22,000 disciples across 140 churches. Delegates receive lodging and breakfast. the Christian Woman's Board of Missions leads day one. a school of methods and expert-led sections run throughout, with Dr Warder as chorister and notable speakers in the two evening addresses.
