Wealthy Decatur farmer Newton Judd commits suicide in barn
Newton Judd aged sixty eight, a wealthy Decatur county farmer, hanged himself in a barn near Garden Grove on Monday morning. His son Fred Judd found the body. neighbors assisted. Judd had a long history of mental illness and recent despondency, with past asylum confinements and a recent purchase of a revolver, now recovered. Funeral held Wednesday. inquest not required.
