When Boys Come Home Honors Soldier Boys at Humeston Event

A Humeston celebration honors soldiers at Browstlc and Fenes who have spent six months away. Mayor Goodrich will preside, Gardner will speak, and Rev. Wilson and Rev. Pontius will give talks. County Tackles Liquor Transportation Problem

Representatives from the Attorney General Havner’s office and two Rock Island Railroad secret servicemen assisted County Attorney Wennerstrom and Sheriff Thomas to curb illegal liquor shipments from Gunwald to Tipperary and Olmitz. Mining camps in the area were addressed and shipments from Williamson were halted by Rock Island orders. Several criminal actions have been started as a result.

Kelley-Cornett wedding at Centerville on Wednesday

Miss Olive Kelley of Mystic and Ben Cornett of Humeston united in marriage at Centerville on January 24. The ceremony was led by Rev. Henderson. The bride is from Mystic’s prominent families. the groom is foreman at K and W section. The couple will establish a home as soon as a house is found.

Bullock-Latimer Nuptials Celebrated at Humeston Home

Elizabeth Bullock and Lon Latimer were married Thursday evening at the bride's Humeston home. Rev. M. B. Wilson officiated. The ceremony was witnessed by close friends, followed by a wedding supper. The couple are highly regarded with a large circle of friends sending congratulations.

Editor and former postmaster C. H. Austin, aged 79, longtime Tribune writer and Wayne County pioneer, died Sunday at his Lineville home. He was a printer of the old school and an editorial writer of noted ability. Survived by several children.

Pioneer Boyce of Garden Grove Dies at 85

Obituary recalls Wm Boyce who died in Garden Grove Iowa after a life of farming and faith. He married Elizabeth Carter in 1851 and moved from Sandusky Ohio to Garden Grove, leaving behind a large family including six children and many grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the M E Church with Masonic burial rites.
