Hosts were presented silver spoons and two silk quilts as a token of regard. Rev. Atchison served as pastor of the Associate Presbyterian church for seven years amid wide community regret. The letter from Calhan Colorado dated January 27 1914 reports heavy December snow with three feet on the ground and ten foot drifts, recent warm spell unable to melt snow, a two mile by thirty mile hailstorm last year, good crops, and a growing cattle country. It notes a sale on the 21st mile south where stock sold at high prices with cows from 48 to 62 dollars and calves at 16 dollars.
