The body of Albert Bernard Anderson arrived Friday to Alva and was buried Monday under American Legion auspices. A large audience attended at the opera house with military rites, buglers, and a full firing squad. Anderson, killed July 21 on the Belgian front, was 26.

Lieele Girl Injured By Auto Near Town Farm
Helen Worden nine, daughter of Mrs Worden, seriously injured when struck by an automobile while returning from Brown Jug school. She was unconscious most of the time, with head and neck injuries and bleeding ears and nose. Harley Bland and his brother assisted, a doctor called, and her condition remained grave.

The senior class comedy drew large crowds Tuesday and Wednesday, with Ed Benda as the bride and Wendell Greenlee in "doncha know" roles. Cast members included Ed Yates Ralph Conner Helen McMains Maxine Berkey Eva Tate Gene Black and Grace McConnell among others. Receipts totaled 211.26 with expenses 146.46 leaving 64.80 for school equipment. 5 W Lewis returned from Ottumwa Hospital after a minor operation.

Mrs. Elizabeth Connolly born April 6 1820 in Old Alexandria Virginia of French English descent. Her husband James G Connolly helped build Unionville structures before they moved in 1852 and she later relocated to Russell in 1903 with her daughter Addie. She has four other children living and recalls the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and many inventions from her long life.

Trains Collide in Snowstorm. No Injuries Reported
An inbound passenger train from Centerville and a westbound train collided in heavy snow at 6:45. The engine crew survived with no injuries, the inbound pilot was removed, and repairs were made.
