Ola Grid Squad Feted Sunday

Our Lady of the Angels grade school football team will be honored at the annual grid banquet Sunday afternoon in the church basement 3808 Iowa. About eight to ten coaches from West Northwest area high schools are expected to attend with Frank Marianni Holy Cross coach serving as principal speaker.

Two Area Scout Districts Meet 1967 Campaign Goals

Two Area Scout districts on the Chicago Area Council meet their 1967 Roundup and Growth campaign targets. Districts Chippewa Cicero Fort Dearborn Midwest Mohawk Oakland Pioneer Trails reach Roundup goals while Chippewa Cicero Fort Dearborn Midwest Oakland Pioneer Trails Rainbow Southtown Taylor Park and Tri-Ridge meet Growth goals. The council targets 75600 members by year end and 2700 units. December sign up events aim to recruit more boys and parents ahead of the 1968 Scout Fun Fair May 10 11 12 at the International Amphitheatre.

Congress Sets Area Hearing for Northwest Communities

The Kelvyn Park fieldhouse at 4438 Wrightwood hosts a 7:30 p.m. December 12 hearing to discuss forming a community congress for the area east of Cicero. The Arrangements Committee of the Organization of Northwest Communities sponsors the event, outlining issues like curbs sidewalks parking recreation trees buildings stop signs and a cultural center as potential 1968 program items. Nominations for offices, constitution draft changes, and membership applications will also be part of the meeting.

Careening Car Kills Man On Sidewalk

Robert C. McGlynn aged 44 died after a car sped onto a sidewalk near 2341 Ridgeway and dragged him about 70 feet before crashing. Three men were arrested within an hour for related car theft and charges including leaving the scene and conspiracy. all to appear in court February 15.

Stowe PTA seeks more facilities for elementary school

The Stowe Elementary PTA asks the board of education for a new lunchroom and two mobile units to expand space at 3444 Wahansia while preserving playground area at 3500 W Wabansia. Enrollment has doubled over ten years to 1,375. restrooms also need repairs and new classrooms are pending.

Stage Christmas Pageant at Our Lady of Angels

A Christmas pageant with carols and costumes of many nations will be staged at Our Lady of Angels church in Hamlin and Iowa at 8 p m Sunday. Proceeds go to the parish center building fund. Directors are Anthony Abbattiello and Enrico Clausi.
