Obituary of Mrs. Ethel Loss of Algona

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Logs Ti Loss of Algona were held at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with burial in East Lawn Cemetery. She died Saturday evening at Good Samaritan Center. Survivors include daughter Mrs. Robert Kuhlmann Ottoson and four grandchildren. She was born in Belleville Wisconsin and lived in Ashton NL Cottage Grove and Clarence before moving to Algona in 1917. She taught in Archer and La Verne and married Casey Loss in 1931. She directed the church adult choir for 20 years and was active in Eastern Star Bel Canto Music Club and United Presbyterian Women.

Mrs. David A. Noble 90 Funeral Held in Sioux City

Funeral services for Mrs. David A. Noble 90 of Sioux City and former Humboldt resident were held May 12 at Morningside Presbyterian Church. She died Tuesday at Countryside Retirement Home after months of illness. Surviving are sons David Jr and Alden of Sioux City four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was born Cecile Crittenden in Humboldt and taught rural and home economics before marrying David Noble in 1917.

Harold Petersen Rites Held for Harlan Native 68

Harold Petersen aged 68 of Harlan died May 9 at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha. He is survived by his wife Frances, son Eugene, sisters Leona Fahrenkrog Ella Nieman and Ethel Irvin, and was born May 8 1915 south of Walnut. Funeral services were May 12 at Pausey Funeral Home Harlan with Immanuel Lutheran Church pastors. Interment in Harlan Cemetery.

City approves franchise change for cable provider sale

The council approved a new resolution governing the cable service after Greater Humboldt-Dakota City Cable Television was sold to Center Communications Inc of Chicago. The change was approved subject to the city attorney drafting the final resolution.

AAUW Honors Anna Hope Woman of the Year in Humboldt

The Humboldt AAUW branch named Anna Hope Woman of the Year at a Saturday brunch at the Senior Citizens Center. Presenters and speakers included Carolyn Rohif, JoAnn Humphreys, Eleanor Arent, Marjory Vance, and Mary Reedy. Hope, born Anna Morrow in Hillsboro Ohio, has been active in AAUW, church, and community service, and has traveled widely.
