Survived by son Jean Bergum Beverly Hills. daughter Lois Ulrich Oskaloosa. six grandchildren. 3 great grandchildren. brothers Roy and Sanford Kinseth Fort Dodge. eight sisters including Doris Hunt Cedar Rapids. Born March 25 1895 in Humboldt County. Married Henry Bergum December 6 1916 near Humboldt. Farmed near Bode and ran a restaurant there. Lived Humboldt since 1948. Member Our Saviour s Lutheran Church.

Mrs Fern Morrison 69 former Humboldt resident died Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center Des Moines. Funeral Wednesday at 10 am Lindhart Funeral Home Humboldt with burial Buena Vista Memorial Park Storm Lake at 12 30 pm. Survived by daughter Eileen MacVey Ankeny four grandchildren and brother Vernon Stephan. Fern Stephan born Feb 23 1913 Sac County educated Sulphur Springs married Byron Morrison 1934 Carroll moved to Humboldt 1940. She was a United Methodist Church member and longtime Thomas Jewelry employee.

Mrs Ethel Christenson Funeral Held in Laurens
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Christenson were held at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Laurens with burial at Marble Valley Cemetery in Gilmore City. She died Saturday evening at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids. Surviving are a daughter Dorthea Brewster of Laurens, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Ethel Greenland was born in Udall Kansas and moved with her family to Gilmore City. She married Martin Christenson in 1908 and lived in Gilmore City Marathon Laurens and Morris Minnesota. Mr Christenson died in 1956. Mrs Christenson had been ill after breaking her hip in 1975 and belonged to the Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs Barbara Francis 52 of Fort Dodge died Friday morning at Trinity Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral held 2 p.m. Monday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home with burial at North Lawn Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Frank a sister Mrs Ramona Cantrell Plano Texas and her parents Mr and Mrs Laurence Bair Thor. Barbara L Bair was born in Rutland and raised in Dakota City Callender and Fort Dodge. She trained as a nurse at Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing and worked in Omaha until 1968 then at St Josephs Mercy Hospital Fort Dodge. She married Frank A Francis in 1972 at Mason City. They lived in Fort Dodge. She retired in 1975 and has lived at Marian Home the past year.

Mrs Vern Shipler 62 of Titonka died after a lengthy illness. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burt Presbyterian Church with burial in East Lawn Cemetery Algona. Survived by husband Vern, daughter Carol Smith Alcester SD, stepson Dennis Shipler Burt, six grandchildren and two step grandchildren, three brothers Clarence and Lawrence Westling Fort Dodge and George Westling Badger, three sisters Doris Holtapp Burt, Mrs Walter Hanson Humboldt and Mrs John Volk Humboldt. Born August 8 1920 at Beresford SD she later moved to La Verne Moorland SD Fort Dodge and Burt. Married Walter Heinzman in 1940, returned to Iowa, married Vern Shipler in 1960. They owned a Burt variety store then farmed, retired to Titonka area. She joined Titonka Care Center November 23 1982. Active in Burt Presbyterian Church United Presbyterian Women and Portland Progress Club.

The Humboldt Mutual Insurance Association held its annual meeting on January 24 electing Richard Lanning as president after Warren Whipple stepped down. Officers LeRoyn Stensland and Lawrence Marty were named vice president and secretary manager, with Maurice Abens as assistant. Henry C. Olson resigned as director after 38 years. Ralph Jacobson was named to fill Olson’s unexpired term. Directors re elected included J Donovan Lerdal, Lawrence E Marty and Perry Morse. The auditor reported strong growth with rising assets and policyholders surplus. 764 claims worth 391,096 dollars were paid in 1982, a record.
