Local Board Clash Over Opportunity Center Funds Breach Suit
The dispute centers on post election turnover of Opportunity Center records and alleged misused funds. Old board wrestled with payments to Sande Construction totaling 95,210 for Oct work plus 24,000 in architect fees while new and old boards disputed ownership and state revenue sharing money. A Humboldt County probe found no fraud, as records show authorization signed by both boards. The case ties to a failed Farmers Home Administration loan and a shift to Humboldt Workshop, Inc. in 1981. Rebuilding followed 1949 1950 efforts across Humboldt area.
