Merchant Marines in WWII. married Marianne Frotecher in 1944. Farmed Twin Lakes Slifer area. later worked for Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric 27 years. Retired in Humboldt. owner and breeder of Appaloosa horses.

Funeral services are set for Willis Bill Madsen 79 of Fort Dodge formerly Humboldt at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lindhart Funeral Home Humboldt with Rev. Paul Otto officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery Humboldt. Casketbearers include Clarence Kramer Roger Hansen Dale Kramer Larry Madsen Edward Clarken Clyde Madsen. Honorary bearers Don Boswell Chris Madsen Michael Madsen. Survived by sister Mis Layton Humboldt, nieces Fred Locker Concord Calif and Roger Hansel Bode, nephews Michael and Larry Madsen Fort Dodge and several cousins. Born July 4 1904 in Chicago Illinois he moved to Bradgate area then farmed near Arnold Humboldt County and lived in Humboldt since 1949. Active in farming until retirement 1982. Member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Humboldt. Preceded in death by parents Niels and Petra Madsen and brother Earl.

In Humboldt on Thursday August 18 Oliver Andrew Harklay 62 backed from a parking space on Fifth Street South near First Avenue South and struck a car driven by James H Erickson 30. Harklay faced charges of improper backing after the fender bender near 20 a.m. No injuries were reported. Humboldt Police investigated.
