Runaway car injures Jolley band and kills Carroll spectator
Alfred Dirks, 46, Humboldt, his son James, 21, Jolley, and Judy A Koneena, 25, Gilmore City, members of the Jolley Home Brewers Orchestra, were minorly hurt when a runaway car struck the bandstand during a Saturday night performance in Carroll. Deaths of Arnold Janssen and Granddaughter Lifted by Tragedy
Arnold Janssen 69 of Humboldt died Monday evening after a sudden illness from a heart attack. Funeral services set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Fort Dodge with burial in Humboldt Union Cemetery. Survived by wife Alberta daughter Chery Ann Loftus and two grandchildren and brother Leonard. The 6 year old granddaughter of Ron Loftus family died in a South Dakota auto crash. the child’s funeral in Sioux Falls Thursday.

Humboldt Woman in Critical After Rutland Area Crash
A Humboldt woman, Diane Leigh Hanson, 20, remained in critical condition Wednesday after a one car wreck north of Rutland Sunday. The car left the Rutland Bode road, rolled several times, and Hanson was found in a bean field about 60 feet from the road. She was treated at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. witnesses said she dozed off while driving north to her parents’ Rutland home. Her parents were away on vacation and Hanson had just finished a shift at North Care Center in Humboldt when the crash occurred.
