Sioux Center traveled to Hull on Wednesday afternoon and lost 9 to nothing as Merrill's battery powered Hull. Ben Saeger hit a home run and Harry Rombough scored. disputes over a close call led Sioux Center to withdraw in the eighth inning amid tensions with umpires.
Old Settlers Picnic drew a large crowd in Boyden last Saturday. Hull beat Boyden 12 to 3 after a rough, uneven game that left Matlock backers wary as they wagered heavily on side bets and some stakeholders withdrew.
John Mayer works a new flowing well in Bigelow Minnesota as others fail to find water. Tenants and neighbors visit the site in awe while Mayer contemplates a large rise in the farm valuation from the discovery. The novelty draws wagon loads from surrounding areas.
Monday morning Mayor Weir submitted to an appendectomy after years of illness. He had nearly faced surgery weeks ago but chose to wait until he felt better. At present he is doing well with no setback, and is expected to be back among us shortly.
