Burkhart's Laundry and Dry Works History
J E Burkhart started Texas Hand Laundry on July 23 1893 at 1700 Washington Ave. after rapid growth the firm moved to 1720 Washington Ave and then 911 Capitol Ave before purchasing a corner site at Congress and Jackson in 1901. A two story building housed the plant with a residence above and later expanded in 1904 to a large modern plant.
