Pave ments on Harrisburg Road in Houston praised as fair deal
In 1913 Houston officials laid asphaltic concrete on Harrisburg Road from Milby Street to the city limits, a seven contract section of 14 blocks. The average price for similar work then was about 1.85 dollars per square yard for a 5 to 6 inch concrete base with a 2 inch bituminous wearing surface. The text urges fixing this price as fair for first class work.
