A deadly rail collision near Sand Creek killed one official and injured numerous passengers and crew. Rescue trains from Peru and Montpelier transported victims as wreckage and bodies were recovered amid chaotic scenes and statements from railway officials.
Ninety to one hundred injured passengers arrived by train in two sections from the Wabesh wreck. Among the wounded were Louele Virglies and Trubuzel Sileestro who spoke briefly despite injuries.
