National Bank Authority Approved for Sonora Group

Comptroller Dawes approves a fur authority to organize national banks including the First National Bank of Sonora with 5400 capital. Wood, Afawoell and Ontera named in the charter as organizers.

Post War Debates Over Texas Central Railroad Improvements

Special to The Post reports a discussion in Jones county near the end of the Texas Central railroad about post office and station improvements. Lt Stephens advocated preservation actions while Mr Stephens argued for faster handwork. The House passed an appropriation of 8000 dollars for a stone wall and related works to protect the San Marcos station from overflow and threats to the setup.

Delegates from Asheville N C select New Orleans for the May convention by the second Sunday. Rev D Mullins is elected to deliver the sermon with Rev Dr J S Folix as alternate. St Louis alliance invites the gathering to meet in 1902. McConnell thanks Hot Springs and Williams extends a twenty year invitation to return to the Valley of Many Waters. The convention adjourns.

Will Oppose Extradition To Cuba In Meeley Case

John J. Lindsay, Meeley’s counsel, opposes extradition papers filed by Governor Wood.
