Littlefield and Lorimer receive praise for stands. Senate fate seen as pivotal to McKinley policy and reelection prospects.
National Democratic Committeeman Shanklin traveled from Washington to Evanaville via Indianapolis. He claimed attaching a silver rider to the currency bill and the subsidy bill plus Puerto Rican tariff issues have made Indians democratic by 20,000.

In the Commons the evening session adopted a resolution to authorize a loan of £36,000,000 by a 16 to 24 vote. Sir Jong Hrogorick, parliamentary secretary for the War Office, stated no negotiations are under way between Britain and Portugal on Delagoa Bay or any part of Portuguese East Africa.

Rescue efforts continue as officials, owners, and railroad crews aid the scene. The village of Thurmond and Red Ash area responders mobilize with doctors, caskets, and supplies.
Frankfort Ky March Colonel Jack Chinn known turfman and politician who stood with Governor Goebel when he was assassinated sues Mrs Kate M Banta for libel. He claims she stated he shot Goebel from behind and by this charge suffered $20 000 in damages. The second count alleges publication at various places in Frankfort of more false statements.
