Fire records report cottages destroyed and losses posted

In Van Alstyne Mrs. M. L. Leslie’s Carrier cottage occupied by Wade Hampton burned with contents. Loss on cottage about 1000 dollars. insurance 700. Fire origin unknown. In Denton Mr F F Hughes’s small rent house at Hot Point burned last night around nine thirty, destroying Walding and a stable with eighty thousand bushels of corn and hay for his farm horses. Loss about five hundred dollars. no insurance.

Fire Destroys Residence in Sherman Texas

This afternoon the residence of B. H. W. F. Burton in Sherman Texas was found to be on fire. The flames were controlled before a total loss could occur. Damage to the building and contents is placed at about $1,000, fully covered by insurance.

Fire at Fike College Buildings Wipes Oil Contents

A fire at Fike College, seven miles west of Pike Celeste Texas, on December 6 destroyed oil filled contents. Loss estimated around 5000 dollars. No injuries reported as authorities investigated the blaze.
