The driver lost control after attending a football game. The truck was driven by Mack Rutledge 26 of Judsonia. he was uninjured.
Gov. Orval Faubus will meet with federal and state officials to discuss a food stamp program that could replace the surplus commodity system in Independence County. The plan would require eligible recipients to buy stamps to obtain some commodities while others would be given free. President Kennedy heads to Wheeling West Virginia next Thursday after a Democratic fund raising dinner in which Gov Lawrence Richardson Didworth and Sen Joseph Clark were present. The Arkansas Baptist State Convention Executive Board will present a record 2,106,000 budget for approval at the Little Rock meeting November 5 to 7. The plan includes 1,089,478 for state institutions operations, 117,500 for Christian education, 100,000 as a Thanksgiving offering for the Home for Children at Monticello, 73,000 for state capital needs, and 6,261 for Southern Baptist Convention causes outside Arkansas.
The Attorney General ruled that municipal housing authorities in Arkansas must pay the state three percent sales tax on office supplies and utility bills. The ruling was sent to Fay H. Needham, director of the Paris Housing Authority.
