Tragic Fire at Great Northern Hotel Claims Two Lives
A severe blaze at the Great Northern hotel Saturday killed 17 year old Martha Adams of Amity Ark and 51 year old John Bain of Detroit. Martha Adams died from burns suffered in the fire two weeks after her marriage. Bain died after leaping from a third story ledge. Jimmy Adams, husband of Martha, remained in critical condition as search efforts in the ruined three story building continued. Firefighters faced heavy rain and entry into the wreckage remained difficult.
