Weatherman Sees Scattered Showers Across Arkansas

The National Weather Service forecast calls for scattered showers and a few thunder showers today. Rain becomes less likely tonight then likely again Thursday. precipitation chances run about 60 percent statewide, 30 percent in the southeast portion.

Clark addresses Lions on FBI academy training

Hope Police Sergeant Reid Clark spoke to the Lions Club at the Town and Country restaurant. He completed a three month course at the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia, the 97th session with 249 graduates from the United States and eighteen from foreign nations.

President weighs requests on Watergate pardons

President Ford is not actively considering pardons for all Watergate figures but will weigh any pardon request reaching his desk, as clarified after a White House meeting with House and Senate minority leaders. Funeral Rites Held For Mrs Florine Buchanan Prescott

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Prescott for Mrs Florine Buchanan 83 of Prescott who died Tuesday. Burial followed in DeAnn Cemetery. Survivors include two sons Paul Buchanan of El Dorado Arkansas and Donell Buchanan of Tulsa Oklahoma a daughter Mrs Archie Johnson of Prescott two sisters Mrs Lucille Freeland of Hillsborough California and Mrs Bernice Garreth of Santee California and four grandchildren.

Cold front brings Sharp Drops Across Regions

A cold front sweeps the upper Mississippi Valley and central Plains with gusts to 30 mph. Temperatures fall to the 40s behind the front while the lower Missouri Valley and west central Plains see seasonable 70s. Light snow dusts northern Rockies. showers and thunderstorms affect Nebraska and parts of the Atlantic Coast and lower Mississippi Valley. Dense fog covers southern New England to the Great Lakes and upper Ohio Valley. much of the South Coast remains foggy. For the rest, skies are clear and mild with varied readings from 36 at Cut Bank Montana to 94 at Needles California.

Kiwanis notes good and bad news from Mitchell speaker

Kiwanis speaker Charles Mitchell district engineer of the Arkansas Highway Department shared good and bad news on Tuesday at Town and Country Restaurant. Main Street project should finish this year while Highway 29 South construction will not. Once 29 South advances to a point construction will begin on the next section southward. Mitchell described the department with about 4000 employees including 33 resident engineers across eight counties in the third district. A state highway film was shown. Kiwanis president Gordon Renshaw announced 642 plates served at the pancake supper last Friday and apologized for slow service. The club will improve lines. George Wright Jr inducted Bobby Embry. guests included Jim Hayes Tommy Russell Tom Flores Tim Boyd and new members Sweeney Copeland and Freddie Verser.

Trial set for sheriff in Harrison on tax fraud charges

Sheriff Billy Joe Holder of Searcy County faces a federal indictment charged with filing fraudulent income taxes. He is to be tried October 7 in Harrison after posting a $1,000 bond. The indictment cites 1969 income of 6148 vs 15838 and back taxes of 2243, plus 1970 income of 7931 vs 18602.

Hope High School 1954 Grads Sought for Addresses

All Around Town lists requests for address information for five 1954 Hope High School graduates and notes contact numbers.
