Another Hurricane Is Brewing Edith Fern Threatens Coast

Miami AP reports Hurricane Edith growing in the Caribbean with 75 mph winds and a forecast to reach major storm status. Tropical Storm Fern and a developing depression loom nearby as the center notes the entire western Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and Bahamas region as one cyclonic system. Edith is expected to slow and turn northwest toward Central America, while Fern may strengthen before landfall near Texas and Brownsville. A north Atlantic low north of the Bahamas also could become a tropical storm within 24 to 36 hours.

Cool Front May Drift Into State

A cool front may drift into northern Arkansas Thursday, bringing scattered thundershowers statewide with higher activity in the north. Temperatures should reach the 90s elsewhere, while Fort Smith reported 105 degrees Tuesday. Radar showed widely scattered to isolated showers, with no rain at reporting stations.
