Reach No Verdict in Murder Trial
In Nashville Arkansas the jury in the Carl Shuffield murder case retired after hours without a verdict. The 22 year old defendant faced first degree murder charges for shooting Luther Arnold and wounding Henry Arnold after a dispute at the Shuffield home last April 22. He claimed self defense saying Luther reached for a gun and that the Arnold brothers were drunk. Witnesses testified to a broader fight at the couple’s home and that Luther died at the scene while Henry was wounded. The state sought the death penalty.
