A 31-year-old part-time logger Dale Merle Nelson was arrested by police dog after a 41‑hour manhunt for a gunman who killed eight Canadians including five children. Nelson, jailed on one count, faced a magistrate Tuesday. Victims included Shirley and Tracy Wasyk and Cathy Phipps. Cathy was abducted and later killed near a ditched car.
