Famous Diver Recalls Little River Riverboat Dances
Fulton resident B Shulta recalls a trip up Little River on the famed steamboat Waukesha. A grounding at the mouth prompted dancers on the lower deck while the boat drifted. Big steamers later moved dances to upper decks, drawing county youths to Fulton for social river excursions with strong orchestras. The Shults system includes old records of John Brooks owning Fulton Ferry in 1871 and an El Paso Stage company debt of 382.85.
